Talking about this today with my friends, Josh Homme and Doherty both got a good mention but we came to the conclusion Jack White was our favourite..... Yes, our frees are pretty boring.

White Stripes, The Dead Weather and Racounteurs; the mans a god!

So many to choose from, it is impossible to say. But David Gilmour has to be on the top for me.

    Good shout.

Personally Roy Khan, AJ Minette and Christian Alvestam are my favourites.

I can't pick an individual. Radiohead generally, and also Simon and Garfunkel (if we are counting voices as instruments )

All the members of Yes were brilliant in their respective instruments, too.

My favourite musician in terms of purely instrumental would be Jaqueline du Pre, though. Such a shame her career was cut short

I also respect anyone- like Starker, below, who can be such a badass with this piece:

James Jamerson- Motown's famous bassist who played with one finger. They called him The Hook

I'd say Dylan but I feel that's a bit of a cliché so I'll go with Tim McIlrath. He may not be able to play some ridiculously long solo at breakneck speed and I'm sure someone here could find a list of about thousand better guitarist and singers but none the less he's still a talented musician and person. Everything he sings about has the meaning and has shaped my view of the world considerably.

His voice seems a little croaky here but I think it gives the song that raw feeling. Drills home the message.
