Anon or delete please, this is embarrasing

A couple of weeks ago I went to my old school (I dropped out of that school to do A Levels,I live outside the UK) ,I bumped into 2 of my favourite teachers.
They were happy to see me,one hugged me.That is the bit I dont get .I mean why would they care,ok so if I died.... they might be a little upset, but why would they care what happened to me,we didnt know each other that well. Why would they be happy to see me again.Unfortunately I'm 100% serious,no trolling.

There's nothing suspicious about that. They just enjoyed teaching you.

Would you rather they were horrified to see you again and ran and hid in a bush?
Just be pleased a) they remembered you and b) they liked you enough to approach you and give you a hug.
