Painful sex

Ok, am hoping this isn't too much info for anyone but I'm pretty open about these things and am quite curious..

I have really quite a small vagina. I mean, it stretches, but it just is naturally narrow or something. As you may have read before in my posts on H+R, I never used to be able to get a tampon in despite being relaxed etc, there just wasn't any room, and first time sex was complete agony despite my hymen already being broken, just cos of the stretching.

Nowadays, since I started having sex things are easier, tampons are no problem and usually sex is painless too. However, now I'm in a long distance relationship I see my boyfriend every 5 weeks or so, so I'm getting a lot less sex than I was used to before. The trouble is, I seem to be sort of, closing up again. Sex is painful again, not as painful as my first time obviously but it's the same sort of pain, and it can be quite bad. I don't think I'm tense at all, and after a few days I get used to it again, but I'm generally really tight. Good for my boyfriend I guess, not so good for me.

Anyone else get this or have any idea what I could do? It's slightly annoying when I want to jump into bed but we have to take it really slowly :frown:. Will it ever be as small as it used to be again? Sorry if anyone's eating or whatever!

you could try 'loosening' yourself up before you see him with a dildo...??

i'm think this thread will get locked, but i think the best thing you can do is have intercourse on a regular basis. maybe you should get a vibrator during breaks away from your partner? also try lubricant.

i think you should talk to you doctor about it i read somewhere abotu a woman who had a simular problem to this and the only answer was to have sex alot and when the boyfriend was away to use a vibrator or whateever.
but yeah talk to your doctor

Regular masturbation.

See your GP, however embarrassing you might think it'll be.

yeah it might be embarrassing but your doctor will be able to help you so....

Hehe, I was hoping not to have to go to extremes! And this thread won't be closed hopefully, provided it doesn't degenerate into crazy sex chat, which really isn't what I asked for. Just would be good to know if anyone else at all has experienced anything similar and stuff.

I get the same thing... so we just try not to stay apart so much. He did go away for a month over the summer and I have to say that when he got back it was eye-watering...

There is an actual medical condition can vaginitis or something (sorry, not a med student, just an avid Cosmo reader!!) that affects the muscles surrounding the vaginal walls which means it is effectively closed up, as if tensed, all the time. It can be so bad that tampons cannot be used, as you have described. Go see your doctor, it'll probably be sorted out in no time xx

Wow, I have the same problem.

I have never used a tampon because I can't fit it in and it's really, really painful. The only "slight" penetration I've ever had was from my boyfriend's tip of his pinky, and that was painful. I yelled at him to stop.

I don't really have any advice considering I can't get over my pain, except be happy you're not a loose cow--because that's much worse--and maybe take some pain killers, get drunk, or take a brick to the head to have sex.

I am definitely planning on one of those when I lose my virginity and penetrate my vagina for the first time because if the tip of a pinky hurts, I bet a 7 inch penis will stab me to death.

Your words hold more truth than you realize, especially the "screaming banshee" bit.

SlyPie you sound exactly like how I was, I knew it was gonna hurt cos other, smaller things hurt so much. During my first time I was less of a screaming banshee and more into shouting a constant stream of swear words and beating up my boyfriend. And I'm so nice normally  .

I must reassure you, it does get so much better. After a penis, tampons really are fine, which is awesome, and nothing causes me much problem now except for, well, the penis itself really!

Vaginismus not itis.
THe muscles of the vagina contract down making the entrance smaller and sex even more painful its a subconscious thing which leads to a vicious circle basically sex hurts so you tense on penetration which makes it hurt even more...

Even if the thought is that sexually appealing to you, a dildo/vibrator may be a good idea. medically they have things (called dilators i think) which is like a russian doll of dildos - each progressively bigger.
it helps make sex less painful, and hence more enjoyable. its all about breaking and reversing that vicious circle. if you dont fear the sex you wont tense and it'll be less painful...
lube!
is all i can say

wont help if vaginismus is the issue.
the sufferer can be very well naturally lubricated and still have real problems
true, but lack of lube might well be the problem. it sure doesn't 'fit' if i'm not 'ready' anyway.

Without going into detail, I definitely, definitely, don't need lube.
