Just wondering if anyone on here works or has worked (or had a placement) in an environmental consultancy, if so what are the good points/bad points, is the work rewarding, mundane etc?
Just enquiring because I am considering applying for a masters degree in September which will probably steer me in the direction of environmental consultancy firms.

Hi, I did an environmental science undergrad and a fair amount of my final year work was based around consultancy work as this is supposedly one of the biggest employment sectors for envi graduates. I loved the work I did, one of my major projects was to plan a theoretical 20 turbine wind farm and do a environmental impact assessment for it. It was quite a lot of hard work (partly due to factors on the way the project was arranged as well as the actual content) but a lot of us found it highly rewarding when we got to the end (and got to sleep again!). I will admit a lot of the law we covered got a bit tedious though, but I think anything is going to have pros and cons.
I know a few people who have done either a environmental consultancy masters this year (with a three placement) or similar masters (sustainable environmental management for example) who have absolutely loved it both as a masters and the placement work they have done, all of whom are applying for consultancy work now (and one who has a job directly from the work placement)
It would be great to hear if anyone has some more direct experience to relate as I am doing the environmental consultancy masters in September
