So, I and most people in my class failed their january physics exams (80% got an E or U) so the teacher got our papers back.

I knew I had failed on the day of the exam, so I was expecting my U so wasn't as upset as many others, but, I got 1 more UMS mark than my Raw marks...wtf?

I got 27% UMS but 39% raw marks...seriously, how is that even fair? I thought scaling UMS was much fairer than that.

I'm quite annoyed, I know I need to accept my result, which I have, but I did slightly better than what my UMS actually shows....

    Anyone else had this happen?

this is the whole point of scaled marks.

If only 5 people sat an exam and the test was out of 100 raw marks and they got 96, 97, 98, 99, and 100 one of them would get 80-100% ums, one would get 70-80% ums etc etc. And the person who got 96 would get 40-50% ums or similar.

That's just the way it works

Yeh, boundaries were the highest for a while. Its just annoying that my mark isn't representative of what I actually got.

Bring on my resit, which will probaly be a hard paper
