I used to always peel them, then I noticed that my sister didn't, so I tried it and as far as I can see there's absolutely no point in peeling carrots, unless if they're all manky. So why bother doing it?

I admit this is a slightly pointless thread, but what the hell.

Bleah, raw parsnip? No thanks. And surely peeling them is more effort than washing them.

depends, but if you get the ones with hard bits of soil and gravel then washing is slower unless you call in the sink scrub
peeling is way quick if you get the technique down with the peeler, but i use a chopping knife personally
position knife at 45 degree angle down away from you, leverage the carrot under the knife so you can feel the drag, pull the carrot towards you rather than the knife away from you, less dangerous and less mess
