My tutor gave us some homework which consisted of drawing transition diagrams. The question was to "draw an irreducible discrete time markov chain consisting of 7 states, with one state having a mean recurrence time of 5". I'm supposed to give a reason the markov chain does not exist.

I'm not sure how to go about doing this question, from all my notes and internet research it seems the mean recurrence time needs to be calculated from existing probabilities, and I couldn't find any illustrations of transition diagrams showing mean recurrence times in markov chains. I would really appreciate any form of help! Thanks...
