Well it all depends on what genre you like but I'd suggest anime like paradise kiss, a little more adult themed than ghibli. 5 centimetres per second, film. Clannad, chihayafuru, not very similar to ghibli but a good watch. Nurarihyon no mago, kinda like spirited away but a little different. Princess princess is another good watch which I watched early on In my anime life. Robotics notes, psycho-pass are two more id suggest but they are nothing like ghibli.

Until you have an idea what type of genres you enjoy all you can do is watch 5 eps or so of various anime to see if you enjoy them.

Also i've had to stall/drop Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui! It was just getting too cringey for me. It had it's funny moments but I am literally unable to watch stuff that has cringey comedy/awkwardness like that all the time. If anyone else watches it any further can you let me know if the story and characters progress any more because I really am struggling to watch it after 4 eps.

:gasp: You haven't been watching the anime?! Why on earth not? The animation is gorgeous and the music is epic, some of the best OST's I've heard in a while! I'm on episode 16 atm, but I'm putting it on hold to wait for more episodes and just marathon it later but so far
    Spoiler:
    Show
Eren has joined the Survey Corps and they plan to take back Wall Maria using his Titan powers. They caught 2 titans alive in the Battle of Trost and were doing experiments on them, but it seems someone who had access to 3D Manoeuvre Gear had killed them both, meaning it's one of them.

Yeah the current arc has been dragging on for a while, but I'm glad to know that Akashi wasn't a natural born prick -- I hope they expand on the 2 personality thing a bit more.
I'm waiting for the anime to end so I can watch the whole season in one go I.e. a marathon like you're going to do.
But I heard the opening and damn was it epic :yep:

    Spoiler:
    Show
you've still got ages to go then there's a lot more still to happen but there's only been 30 odd chapters so far so a few more episodes and you'll catch up :yep:

Yeah he seemed like a really nice guy especially how he helped Kuroko at the start. They most definitely will since he's now the main antagonist of the arc

    Hey everyone!

I really love Studio Ghibli films (who would have guessed ), but I haven't moved onto any other animes as yet, so I was hoping you guys could suggest some good starting points

    Thanks :awesome:
I found Summer Wars to be really good.
Basically, maths genius solves problem, gives answer to problem to computer, world war 3 begins.

Is very good though, even if the film reminds you of War Games.

    Hello!

Here's a few great (in my opinion!) series that spring to mind as being relatively easy for people who are new to anime.

    Wolf's Rain

    Last Exile

    Seirei no Moribito

    Denno Coil

    Kemono no Souja Erin

Hope something there catches your interest.

episode 4 was good...im going to continue watching it, I know what you mean about it being too cringey sometimes though, there were scenes in episode 5 that made me cringe so badly I had to look away from the screen because I felt so bad for tomoko. and usually I am very emotionless watching anything.

I also think sometimes think tomoko's situation is so sad, I don't really know where this show is heading but I hope things get better for her.

    Not seen Code Geass, however, Death Note, the following;

    Higurashi
    Umineku
    Elfen Lied

Have you considered Death Note's Movie - L - Change The World.

A few options (literally the first lot that came into my head). Will post more later if I think of any.

Guys I need some help, I've kinda stalled two series today and I don't know i'm in a kind of slump with anime at the moment. I've just been rewatching some series. I really need something really good to get me back into things. Something visually stunning like SAO and with a good story. I don't mind the genre as I watch most genres. I just need something beautiful to restore my love for the medium, with a good storyline to boot.

I presume if you like Ghilbi you quite like more innocent anime, ja? In which case, outside of the ones already mentioned, i'd recommend Usagi Drop which is the only anime to make me tear up through cuteness overload and Planetes which is a really good pathway into sci-fi anime.

Kino's Journey is my personal favourite anime which is very Ghilbi in style and tone (it's not very long either so it's possibly your best starting point ) as well as Princess Tutu (much better than it sounds, honest!) and Denno Coil.

Miyazaki also did 'Sherlock Hound' before he did the films so while it's not like most anime, you should enjoy the sense of adventure it has if you like his films :yep:

Not sure what you've already watched, but I'd suggest any of the following:

Attack on Titan (can't recommend the series enough at the moment :p:)

    Steins;Gate

    Baccano!

    Shin Sekai Yori

    Bokurano

What about Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo?
    http://www.animenewsnetwork.co.uk/en...me.php?id=4194

You've possibly seen it, but I always thought that Baccano!, Last Exile and Planetes had some of the best looking animations going while also having the best stories. There's Mononoke which is certainly one of the most original in styles but I seem to be the only one who doesn't like the story though it's probably worth giving a go.

If you don't mind films then the works of Makoto Shinkai are by far your best bet outside Ghilbi.

Hope you don't mind me quoting you here, but this thread is the far more active of the two at the moment, and I thought there would be a few people here who'd be interested to see the photos. Attack on Titan cookies! Sounds like a great place. I can't imagine what a Steins;Gate themed cafe would be like, shame it wasn't open.
    Sure, makes sense.

Regarding the cafe, I actually went back to the area on another day late in the evening when taking that picture as I was eating out in Namba. Everything was closed except the porno/hentai stores, which I didn't care to frequent.

Dubs aren't my specialty, but going by Amazon, recent UK releases include Kore wa Zombie desu ka?, Steins;Gate, Bakemonogatari, Hidan no Aria and Un-Go. Might be worth looking under the site's new releases if you want to know what else is out on BluRay/DVD over here; if however you're after *really* new English dubs and would rather stream or import, I guess you could do the same on the US Amazon instead? :dontknow:
is there a website those shows the latest animes or the latest episode of that anime that has been english dubbed and released ?

like a website that shows when the an anime is going to be released with english dubbed episodes as soon as possible? it doesnt have to be the whole anime..maybe they start of with episode 1 and then carry on...etc
