Seems my patience is at an all time low this season - dropping things left right & centre - highly unusual behaviour for me given my "WATCH ALL THE THINGS!" mentality. Just can't summon up much enthusiasm for much this season - so it looks like yet another season with nothing to blog.....which really isn't good for the whole not letting my blog die thing....

Excited about Jojo's, Mushishi & Ping Pong but don't want to write about them weekly. Enjoying Haikyuu, Kamigami and Sidonia, but wouldn't have anything to talk about with those shows and everything else is in danger of being dropped unless they get more interesting ASAP. Not impressed this season at all at the moment, and it looked fairly promising at preview!
That's a shame. As a viewer, perhaps you're changing. You're no longer the juggernaut (so to speak) that consumes everything and anything; rather you've become someone who is more selective.

On the other hand, the main reason I've been able to watch so much over the years stems primarily from the fact that, whilst I encourage originality and innovation, I'm more than happy to watch even the most generic of anime. For instance, whilst I acknowledge that objectively Mushishi is better than Soul Eater Not!, my enjoyment is more or less mutual for both. So, yeah, you might find that you're no longer the all consuming anime monster that you once were, and you're in fact better suited these days to watching a select few from each season that raise the bar. The generic and the ordinary will always exist each season because quality and popularity aren't always mutually inclusive.

really nice ep of Nisekoi :cute: so much Onodera in one ep :woo:
I absolutely love her. She's my favourite of the girls. She's just so adorable.

wow  even marathoning through those naruto eps back in the day, my brain would start to melt when i got into double figures
Yeah, I randomly decided to re-watch it with my friend Rika. We woke up early and decided to marathon the whole thing. We didn't end up stopping until around 10 at night. :giggle:

yeah next 2 eps were hilarious  but latest ep was a lot calmer, still good though
Yeah, I'm enjoying it. The anime has definitely gotten the balance of comedy and drama/romance right so far.

So, anime wise, I'm still working my way through the current season. I've made a start and have quickly caught up on quite a few this weekend, namely:

Black Bullet: I'm liking this so far. The premise is far from original, but the way that it has been handled has been enjoyable. The characters are likeable and the plot is progressing swiftly, which is appreciated. Keeping on, for sure.

No Game No Life: I've only seen the first episode for this, but wow. Firstly, I love the colourful palette that Madhouse have adopted here. Coming from them, it's unusual, especially in comparison to Mahouka. That aside, the premise is insane, but amusing. I also like the two siblings. Their relationship is evidently close, but I'm not getting any incestuous vibes from them. Not yet, anyway. Definitely something I'm keeping on.

emanga.com is STILL down, so I decided to use this as an excuse to experiment with some other ebook sites/formats. Amazon was an obvious place to start, since I'm reading them on a Kindle - bought all of Kouga Yun's Crown of Love! Haven't started it yet, but the image quality looks great, and the 'pages' 'turn' a fair bit quicker than those of the MOBI files I'm used to from emanga/Kindle Comic Converter. Will definitely buy from there again.

Secondly, I tried SuBLime, who offer their digital releases in PDF format, making them fairly universal... wasn't impressed, though. There's no way of setting up a PDF to read right-to-left (manga-style), and the device took ages to do anything (open the file, change the page, zoom etc). Fortunately, the publisher's stuff is also available on Amazon, specifically for Kindle - it does cost more, but it's worth it for the convenience IMO. *now owns two copies of Three Wolves Mountain as a result*

Got to the third episode of No Game No Life. Had to turn it off half-way through the chess game because it was just so stupid. I got excited when they started talking about zero-sum games and the like, but they just had to go and ruin it.

I couldn't watch any more after the second episode, personally. It got off to an okay start, I found the rock-paper-scissors game mildly entertaining, though I couldn't help comparing it to the restricted rock-paper-scissors arc of Kaiji, but without the tension and fantastic narration that made Kaiji so enjoyable.

Then, the inappropriate mind-control and 'unavoidable' groping killed it for me. Usually when a male protagonist ends up in that sort of situation, they apologise and/or make excuses before getting kicked into oblivion. I can tolerate such generic scenes, with a sigh and/or facepalm. But this guy just carried on.

Not that I needed a third strike to drop it, but said rapey protagonist's praise of the Tokyo Youth Ordinance Bill and it's censorship enforcer 'Mr Steam', while his loli sister bathed on screen with as little censorship as possible, didn't appeal to my sense of humor either.

*really can't understand why this series is in A-P's Top 100, and rising*

Needless fan-service is something I can't stand. I'm watching some older shows that I never got round to. I'm catching up on Samurai Flamenco, as we speak. Also, I watched the first episode of Captain Earth, and you can tell it had a huge budget. Plot seems kind of borderline-nonsensical, at the moment, and, according to one of my friends, it doesn't get any better by the latest episode.

Ah, Samurai Flamenco... great start, but it quickly goes off the rails - if you haven't already reached that part, you'll know it when you see it. I found it almost painful to watch by the end.

I didn't pick up Captain Earth, though that's only because it looked and felt so similar to Star Driver, which I really didn't like. Same studio and mostly the same staff. If what you've heard is true, I feel less bad about judging the book by its cover. :p:

Meh, the fan-service went over my head in No Game No Life, and this is coming from a woman (who they clearly aren't targeting). If you can look past the fan service, the series has a lot of potential and was enjoyable to watch, at least for me (and many others, if A-P is anything to go by).

Fan-service is unavoidable and features in most shounen and seinen manga/light novels. I've become effectively immune and/or sanitised to it all. In this case, as it's targeting the older male demographic, the fan-service will be more risqué, hence AJ's distaste.

At episode 3, it's still difficult to determine how great this'll be in terms of longevity. It seems to be heading in the right direction, though.

I've managed to get pretty much all my anime from four older external hard drives and about 30 DVDs onto my new 4TB drive, with plenty of room to spare. Though looking through a lot of the older files, I may end up having to redownload a lot of it anyway - my standards when it comes to video quality, as well as my desktop's bigger screen, means that 240p AVI files aren't really worth holding onto anymore. :p:

emanga.com still doesn't want my money. :hmmm: They announced earlier today that the site was finally back up, and are offering 10% off most titles and a few other bonuses by way of apology... but the site still bugs horribly at the final stage of the checkout. :s: I hope they get it fixed soon, I've only got one more unread volume of Elemental Gelade. :sadnod:

Finished Space Symphony Maetel, which I found a bit too fast paced, and suffered from the usual associated flaws (lack of character development, confusing rushed storyline etc). Still, I got through it pretty quickly, so it can't have been that bad. :p:

On the subject of the Leijiverse, I found out a few days ago that the long-delayed Captain Harlock movie came out last September. Unfortunately, it seems the UK wasn't included in its international release. :s: Won't stop me finding it online instead, though.

I remember watching a 'Most OP Anime Characters' video on YouTube, and there was this one clip that amazed me. Not sure where it was from but it was quite old. Basically, one used his index finger and pushed it into people's foreheads (it went in as well), and said 'you will die in 3 seconds' and their heads exploded or something. Does anyone know where it's from?

I've not watched it myself, but I believe Kenshiro of Fist of the North Star likes doing that.
