Didn't realise there is an anime thread here, though having tentacles in the thread title doesn't really help the opinion of people that see anime as hentai and tentacle porn.... lol

A-P just added a small, but nice new feature - the loved/hated character list samples on homepages are now randomly selected each time you refresh the page, instead of it just showing the same six (i.e. the first ones on the lists in alphabetical order) each time. I think I'll have to make some drastic changes to my loved characters list, though... hardly remember who some of them are, so I can't have liked them THAT much. :p:

But... there are so many thousands of series out there! :zomg: Not that Bakuman and its sequels aren't worthy of being rewatched, but if you are interested in recommendations, let us know what kinds of series you like and I'm sure we'll be able to come up with something.

I like a wide variety and sometimes Bakuman gets really boring. I've just stepped onto watching the 17th episode of Baby Steps (Didn't know episode 17 was out :huff:)

I like a wide variety if I'm honest the recommendations that Aiko made on the beginners thread really were something.

I usually watch Romance, Psychological, Adventure

Yeah, that thread has got some fantastic recommendations. There's quite a lot there I should probably get around to watching myself (Toward the Terra, Inuyasha, Skip Beat! etc).

I'd suggest any of the following, if you haven't already seen them:

    Last Exile

    Zetsuen no Tempest

    One Outs

    Outlaw Star

    Natsuyuki Rendezvous

Hi, I'm new to watching anime so pardon my lack of knowledge.

The only anime I've watched so far is Durarara!! and despite the popularity of the show I can't seem to find anyone else who's watched it. :dontknow: Love it though. :ahee:

I'm mainly a J-Drama and K-Drama watcher but I want to get into more anime so if people could give me some recommendations of anime to watch, that'd be great.

I've also watched many Ghibli films (The Cat Returns, Spritied Away, My Neighbour Totoro, Ponyo)

Never heard of the show, although some of the wallpapers look cool, if I get time I might check out some episodes.

Personally the first anime I watched was Deathnote:ahee:

You might want to check out Beginner's Guide to Anime. There's some really good recommendations on there

It's only the best anime ever. Well, I only say that since I have nothing to compare it with.

I've only watched all 3 of the Death Note films, not read the manga nor have I watched the anime though I want to.

    The link doesn't work.

Welcome to the society! Durarara!! is a great series, and there are a fair few people here who've seen it - were you aware it's getting a sequel?

Here's a working link to the welcome thread - Aiko's recommendations there are fantastic. As for my own recommendations, I'd suggest any of the following:

Baccano! (same creators as Durarara, and it has a very similar feel)

    Steins;Gate

    K (yes, it's just called 'K') :p:

    Denno Coil

    Fate/Zero

Omg anybody heard about the new anime/manga reforms :afraid:

    http://www.idigitaltimes.com/article...load-sites.htm

I'm genuinely concerned. I'm gonna have to start looking for niche anime websites now, hoping it's not part of the 580 they wish to eradicate.

From what I read on ANN, they're focusing mostly on piracy in China. Though I figure that it'll be a difficult battle for them to win either way, since new sites pop up all the time. :dontknow:

I'm not that concerned because they always say they're going to 'crack down' on illegal sites but they never do. For example torrent and streaming sites, many have closed down by it's pretty easy to find alternatives. When one site is closed another is always opened.

Luckily there's always Crunchyroll anyway. Which, as far as I'm aware is legal as well as being brilliant.

I heard on an anime download site I occasionally take a look at. At first I thought oh no, then I realised not much is going to happen. Unless they actually do have some kind of big international authority.

When are they going to realize. An anti-piracy operation/campaign is absolutely pointless. They take one down, two more will come. Much alike torrent sites, they take one down, more come back.

Even if they block it at an ISP level, people will just use a proxy/VPN.

Does this mean that in the near future I won't be able to store anime on a discreet black portable hard drive and have to resort to buying Card Captor Sakura DVD boxsets? :nooo:
