Are all Bill Mo standard kitchens/bedrooms like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4C4-Jbdh8A&feature=relmfu

Rooms look great, just the kitchens that put me off a bit, look a bit dingy, nothing on the sofas and big table that the people in ensuites have.

I personally went through preferences because HF weren't showing up when I tried to book it, but chose the preferences that were the exact description of what I wanted and was lucky enough to get it! And yes, HF is such good value for money! I wouldn't choose an en-suite because you're paying an extra £1000 per year and getting very little out of it. Our toilets are perfectly adequate and are cleaned weekly.
And yes, there are washing machines in all lodges kitchens.
And there's a half-chance you'll be in a single sex flat from what I see. My block has 2 mixed and 2 single sex, as does Oak Lodge, I believe. Not sure about Chestnut, though. Because of how they're laid out, you're sure to socialise with almost everyone in your block regularly.

Were they fully booked then, or was there an error? I'm thinking the same about the ensuite now, to be honest. The pros are obviously the bathroom, and they have a nicer kitchen, but that's about it it seems.

Thanks though, I think Harry French might be my first choice now  It's cheaper than Bill Mo standard, the kitchen looks nicer, and I think there's an extra shower. I guess I was probably going more by popularity, but HF still seems popular/fun. Hmm. One week left to decide for certain...

Thanks for making me doubt my choices again! Harry French was going to be my third choice after both Bill Mo rooms, but now I'm not sure 'cause you've made it sound so nice! I'm glad you said that bit about the 3ft/4ft beds and what type of flats they come in, because I didn't know that. I would've gone for 4ft, but the 2 toilets/showers (and washing machine! Do all the 3ft bed flats have these?) definitely sounds like the 3ft's better overall. I'd rather not live with just girls, but that sounds the same as how you felt so maybe I'd change my mind too.

This is sooo hard! HF's loads cheaper, too...I take it it's not too hard to get a room on the booking dates?

Thanks though, that was really helpful

Never been quite sure if it's luck of the draw or a specific policy change in HF as to single sex/mixed flats as it seems to change. First year it was all single sex but second year over in the courtyard I think every block was mixed; usually around 50:50 but mine was 5 guys & 1 girl haha!

Oh, I guess it'll just be a surprise then  I'd rather be with all girls than be the only girl, though! Well, in theory anyway.

I definitely think I'm leaning towards HF, now. Which is the complete opposite of last week...!

I think the Courtyard's car park is a bit busier than the Lodges but it's highly likely that you'll be able to get a permit. I might wait until you get here though, as you can argue that the car park is rarely used then.

Duly noted, thanks!

On an unrelated note, what is the internet like at HF? I like to listen to internet radio and tend to watch a lot on 4oD and iPlayer - will I have to wait for it to buffer or anything like that?
Hey guys, im Bill Mo RAG rep, living in Bill Mo as a fresher. Honestly I cant stress how important it is to take everything into account when choosing your accommodation. I spent weeks deciding, and when I came to my decision about being in Bill Mo i can honestly say I wouldnt want to be ANYWHERE else. One minute from the union (this massively helps on nights out), second closest hall to town, 4ft beds (trust me this is a must), Hall of the Year 2009, Best Unite hall in the whole country last year. This year we came 2nd in Action, 3rd in Media, currently 3rd in Rag, and should be in the top 3 for IMS aswell. We truly dominate throughout the year, whilst at the same time deliver the best socials, MAD Fridays, Bill Mo Brunchs, Bill Mo Birthday, Bill Mo day, Bill Mo Olympics, the list goes on! Whatever hall you choose in Lufbra you will have an amazing experience, better than any other University, but truly the hall that tops them all is Bill Mo, we arent called the Nasty Bastards for any other reason, we are the cream of the crop.

If you have any questions let me know, heres our website : http://www.billmohall.com/

Good luck with all your exams, and hopefully youve got something to look forward to, because freshers will be the best 2 weeks of your life!

Hey  I've got a conditional offer to do commercial management and quantity surveying, I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas about which accommodation would be best, BillMo seems really good but quite far. Do you know how far a walk it is?

All of the lecture theatres are pretty central-ish, it's really not more than 10-15 minutes walk, unless you need to go to the engineering department which is on the other end of campus

I have booked Robert bakewell since I'm an unconditional student. Can anyone say anything about it? In the videos it looks good, also is the distance such a big hassle? How far away is the union?

All halls (apart from the Holt, I think) are linked up by HallNet, which is faster than most home broadband connections. iPlayer in HD plays seamlessly.

I heard about that, I think it was something to do with their insurance?

Last year the system was a bit buggy because the increased amount of applicants crashed it. And even if you don't get it, you can always ask to be on the swap list. My flatmate was originally in Falk-Egg but asked to be swapped to HF.
But yes, go for Harry French! Save some money whilst still having a cracking time!

CMQS is based in the Civil Engineering department, just less than a mile away from Bill Mo. Walking is about 20 mins or you could take the free shuttle bus.

If you get the bus you can sometimes get there from William Morris in maybe 6 minutes.

****. We have to start applying from Friday and I'm clueless.

Anyone got an idea as to where's the best ensuite accommodation with plenty going on?

Reading this thread, that seems to be the popular option. I'll look into it.
