    Hi!

It seems that I´ve got to choose between AUCB and UCA Film Production courses. And I need help!

I´m interested in documentary directing and I could specialise in AUCB. But UCA interests me as well, I just don´t know quite as much about the school or the course. Can anyone give me advice?

At UCA you also get to specialise, you do it in the second year. At the interview I was told it's 75% practical work. They also told me there is a lot of documentary work and said that if you don't like documentaries this isn't the course for you, so u should like it. As far as I know it's a good uni and course, but Bournemouth is probably the best in the country....
The Farnham location IMO seems really dead and boring, it's like a small town location with hardly any high street shops, the campus also seems really small compared to AUCB. But you can get the train to london and Guildford.

Well, I´ve been leaning towards AUCB, but I´m still wondering which course would suit my interests and personality better. So, maybe the best thing would be for me to try and visit both schools before I have to make the decision. I live in Finland and I work part time, but surely I can find a weekend to visit both Universities.

    Thanks! This cleared my thoughts

These both are an outstanding universities so which ever you choose it won't be a bad choice. If your plan is to stay in UK after you graduate then AUCB might give a a tiny advantage because it's supposed to look little nicer in resume. But in case you have plans to return to Finland this thing might not even matter. You should ask someone in your country do they see any difference between AUCB or UCA and if they do, you should pick the one they prefer more (if this is the case).

I'm not personally so interested in documentary but I think for documentary UCA could be the better one. I know these both unis are super good so the difference between these courses might be small, but if you choose UCA, you choose to live next to London. London means unlimited opportunities and that's something you won't get if you choose to live in Bournemouth. I have few friends at AUCB and they all do like the courses they are doing, but they all are dying to get out from Bournemouth. From Farnham it's really easy to escape and go to London and do what ever you want and when ever you want… Just to relax, or work or do internships etc.

One thing that came to my mind is that UCA Farnham is actually really cheap place to live compared to AUCB. So if you don't have too much money to spend, UCA would definitely be the cheaper option.

What I would suggest you to do now is to use your instincts and choose that one which was your first choice from the beginning. It's very easy to start making pros and cons list but I believe the right place for eveyone is the one you were exited from the beginning.
