Aberdeen or Dundee are usually good places to apply to. They have slightly lower grade requirements, and tend to put more emphasis on experience and volunteering (and lower fees )

A UKCAT score of 650 and above would be more than enough to get you considered at either.

In terms of improvement, maybe you should get as much volunteering as you can. Any experience with people, not necessarily medical will look good

Gosh tell me about it, I feel like that. Rejections from medicine are tough

Your academics seem alright, there isn't anything in particular your lacking. Maybe this year round work harder on the UKCAT aim for above 700 + and you could think about Barts, Sheffield, Kings?

And again get more work experience/life experience/volunteering and just do a lot more reflection in your PS.

Hope your future plans go well. Good Luck.

Surely things cannot be that bad Lots of people get in at the 2nd 3rd or even 4th time of trying.

    There is still hope

Hey, guys Just a quick question.
For improving your WE, is it better to go for a job in a supermarket or let's say a week in a hospital?(previous WE is 45 days in a hospital only). And a nusing care home? Thanks I'm also a reapplicant for 2012 entry unfortunately. But life goes on

Hi - AM writing from a mums view. my son will be a reapplicant next year .
He had plenty of work exp/voluntary work when he applied this time and although he is concentrating on getting the right grades at A2 I have suggested that once they are sat he should look at getting some more voluntary work to help his next application. He i saying that for the moment he wants a paid job and will take anything even if its not medically related and feels that the work experience/voluntary work he has already done should be enough - Any thoughts? Should I just leave him to it? Have any of your parents tried to guide you and did you find it really annoying!! (trying my hardest to help despite not achieving much academically myself!)

Just something to point out, aim to get higher than 750 in your UKCAT if you're thinking of applying to Sheffield. The cutoff jumped from 680 to 717.5 this year.

Your academics are really good. If you manage to get your A2 predictions, you might want to consider Leeds as they use this scoring system which gives you an extra 2 points if you have already taken your A Levels.

    Best of Luck!

    Cheers!

Maybe try and get some work as a HCA, that would be a better experience than stacking cereal onto a shelf at Tesco :awesome:.

The nursing care home would look good too! Many admissions tutors look for very favourably upon long term volunteering placements! It shows a degree of commitment and you'd certainly have plenty to talk about at interviews...

5 rejections as well..just got my 4th rejection from Liverpool after interview
I guess pan_93, the only thing we can do now is really get the grades! and obviously, we can improve A LOT, maybe apply to unis that favour your strengths more, get a better UKCAT/BMAT score, do a lot more work experience, extra curricular. We've got lots to do. I was SO depressed, but in a way it's a relief, at least the pressure is off and all you can do is concentrate on exams! Goodluck, PM me I'm in the same situation as you!
