I'm in year 9 and have just given in my options but have been told that the German GCSE course won't continue to run because only 6 people opted for it. As the school take language GCSEs early, I'm already part way through the course and have done a writing and speaking exam already. I really want to go on to study German in the future so I'm looking at ways around this. One of the school's suggestion is that I take the reading and listening exam this June but I have not covered very much in the textbook in school. I'm very self motivated and have got a*s in the reading and writing assessments I've done (although everything was prepared beforehand so I knew the questions) so if I studied hard over the next two months, do you think it would be possible for me to pass the exam? And still get a B maybe?

    Thank you for any help!

I think writing and speaking add up to 60%, so if you've done them all (I believe you have to do two of each), then you're already on track to getting an A. The reading and listening exams tend not to be that difficult anyway, so if you are motivated as you say you are, and have the relevant resources, you shouldn't have too many problems. Having said that, I'm only able to assume based on what you've written, so perhaps your German teacher would be the best person to ask.

Thank you for your help My school have now offered to sit me for the GCSE after Christmas (I'm so relived) so that gives me a lot more time. I'm just about to do the second speaking and listening assessment so if I do well in this one, then that gets 60% of the course out of the way.
