University start date/ freshers start date

Hi , on my Ucas form it says the start date for my university is 19th September. I am just wondering if that is the start of the course or the start of freshers week? I am guessing its the start of the course. I was just wondering because i am going america for the summer and would prefer the later start in order to get everything sorted..

i was wondering that too as mine says the 24th September. what uni are you going too?
