sex whilst on the pill

hi everyone.

mainly girls will know this but, can u have sex while on ur 7 day break from the pill? do u have to use a condom in this time and is there a higher risk of getting pregnant?

me and my bf have been having sex withut using a condom cos its loads nicer but i am on the pill. would u think its best to use a condom all the time to keep from getting pregnant or what? both of us were virgins when we met so i dont think he has any infections.

So does that mean that, for example if someone has used the pill constantly for about 6 months, throughout those 6 months, they are safe?
erm...don't you get a period during that 7 day break  eww

Provided you started the pack on time and have been taking them correctly, you are protected during the break. Although you will generally have a period at some point during that break.

You are protected from pregnany the whole time you are on the pill yes. Seven day breaks included. If you miss a pill however, you need to use condoms for seven days. If you miss one in the last week of your packet you need to go straight onto the next packet with no gap. It is perfectly safe to run two or three packets back to back with no break.

Your very very first pill should be taken on the first day of your period. If you don't do this then you are not protected for seven days and need to use condoms.

Hope this helps!

yeh i was wondering that.. im on the minipill, and take it for 21 days and then stop for 7 ang get my period, does that mean im still protected from pregnancy? i thought the whole point was it stops you from ovulating amd thatss why you have to take it every day, surely if you stop theres a risk??

Yes. Except in the .1% chance case that it fails.

Not for the entire 7 days, most likely. And so what if you do...
sex on a period? gah it ain't that pleasent..i've always found it a turn off
I promise you, as long as you take the pill everyday for 21 days, you are protected during the seven day break

if you take 21 days and then have a break, then you're not on the mini pill. the mini pill has to be taken every day of the month.

well i was only gonna have sex if i wasnt on my period but i was just wondering.

so i took my last yellow pill from my very first pack this morning. so does that mean i start my next pack next friday whether im still on my period or not? and also do i need to just put the sticker on top beginning with friday in red just like my first pack?

im not gonna take the white pills cos i hate taking tablets as it is and they're bigger so as they dont do anything then im not gonna bother. im just gonna keep my alarm set at the time all through so i wont forget.

Provided they are just placebos (ie. don't do anything!) then it is fine to not take them. You better double check this though!
Even during the 7 day break, you are protected and don't worry about the period, I still have sex with my b/f, apart from if I'm on heavy, which I'm normally not, o the pill - u gotta love it!

You can miss one pill a month without an adverse effects. At least on the combined pill.

.

not if it's the first pill or the last pill of the packet though! cos then you're going 8 days without any hormones and your ovaries will wake up again.

Not true!!! If you miss one pill you have a chance of getting pregnant and must therefore use condoms for seven days. (It's printed all over my pill packet that I'm looking at right now!) Just googled it too and have found the same info. This is how most people get pregnant while on the pill. They miss one and don't think it matters. I guarantee you it does.

If you miss one in the third week of the packet you have to carry straight onto the next packet AND use condoms for seven days.

they dont publicise it much, but apparently you can safely miss one (two if you're on a standard strength pill, 30+mg oestrogen hormone) without needing extra protection as long as it's in the middle of the packet (i.e not the first or last) and as long as you only do it once per packet.

the pill leaflets say otherwise cos its quite hard to explain the above in a leaflet and people might get confused.

yea they are just placebos.
Well if people want to risk it then fine but I wouldn't if I were you. The safest bet is to go by the info on the leaflets in the packet. There's no harm in doing that anyway unless you want to risk getting pregnant.

if you're never going to take the placebos, you might as well just ask for a version of your pill that doesn't contain them next time!

jesus christ does NO ONE read the leaflet given in medication? Rather disturbing.

I know! and on something so important too! No wonder so many people claim they got pregnant while 'on the pill'. No love, you are not 'on the pill' unless you take it PROPERLY!!

No offence to those on this thread, now you know the important info you won't be one of those statistics that gets pregnant.
