If you were given £5000, from an estranged relative let's say, what would you do with it? This isn't just random, I'm more or less in the said situation and I don't know what to do! £3000 towards university accommodation, I think, but what about the remaining £2000? Any ideas? I really don't want to fritter this away on clothes and make up etc.

I'd probably put it towards a new car and the insurance.

Save it up? Or invest in it? Unless you want to spend all of it..?

a car and the rest on insurance. Or put it in an ISA for a rainy day. But that's a bit more boring!

I'd save it for the upcoming months when I'll be working part time with no student loan coming in and desperatley trying to keep my head above water.

I'd also buy a new tv and pay for a couple of hours with an escort to celebrate having it as a bit of a safety net.

About 2k to fund a transfer to 3rd year of a different degree since my career path has got ****ed up by a change in course structure, then the rest between savings and a deposit on a flat for next year.
Failing that, leave uni and buy a boat full of ho's.

Buy cocaine, cut and sell. You'll make a bomb.

Alternatively, you can give it to me, I will do the above and share the profit with you.....:holmes:

    ISA ISA BABY.

I'd tie it up for a couple of years, gain a bit of interest, and then either use it on towards part of a car, deposit on a house, or possibly towards a Rolex. They retain value.

I'd get a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier and a cab, as well as a couple of new guitars (: ! Then regret spending everything so quickly.

I'm going to America for the summer, I'll be working for most of it but I'll have about a month ish to travel. I'd probably take around £2000 with me on top of what I've saved so that I could see as much as possible before I came home. The rest I'd save because I'll be coming home to no job and who knows when I'll get one in this economy.

With such a large ammount I would put in in a savings account. You never know when you might need it...

At uni out landlord gave us a deal on our rent where if we payed it all in one we could get a month off. I spent all my savings, but ended up making £300 (or not spending it on something I would have had to, that counts as making it doesn it?)

I'd leave it in the bank. No point looking for ways to spend it. You will regret spending that 5k on stupid things when some sort of emergency crisis pops out.

Student fees as mentioned is a good idea, so is a car maybe. If you want you could buy shares or invest in some sort of Chinese business.
