Lattice + Solution = Hydration

So if hydration = - 2000 Kj
then lattice has to <-2000 Kj ie less exothermic

so hydration is more exothermic than lattice enthalpy

Why does lattice have to be < -2000
Enthalpy of solution can be +ve or -ve

Yeah it it's a bit abstract, but as long as you try and picture the cycle, it makes things slightly easier I find.

Yep, another word for it is "permanent pink" I believe, as it is in the textbook page 219.
16. Feeling reasonably good about this exam. Just revised back over my notes for chapter 1 and done the practice questions again and am getting pretty much all of them right. Going to take short break then crack on with chapter 2 revision. I'm just hoping the paper isn't stupidly hard tomorrow.

How is everyone else doing?

Not great I seem to find the F324 a walk in the park, 90% + everytime, but this paper is like kryptonite to me! D:

Going to go take the Jan 2011 paper now, work through it thoroughly
