I've just done a two hour English Lang. exam and I think I did terribly, the question were along the lines of analyse the text, compare two pieces of text and write a piece to argue, although it could have been either argue, persuade, advise or inform, explain, describe. If you have any tips on how to write these more successfully or under exam conditions please tell me. Thank you.

Maybe use some kind of technique, like you go through certain parts of an argument in one paragraph and using three paragraphs to put it in, well, really there are a lot... Also practise more under timed conditions, you'll get better . I'm not feeling too confident with mine coming up soon, did you not write a lot or something, I tend to find that's what happen as I spend the beginning panicking about what the question means and what I'm supposed to do. You could familiarise yourself with the types of questions so you know what they are asking which will help you target the right thing to write.
