BA/BSc in Architecture, or MEng in Architecture & Environmental Design (then MArch/M.Phil in Architecture)?

    Basically the question above.

I'm wondering if it's worth spending 4 years on an undergraduate degree doing MEng in Architecture and Environmental Design (exemption from RIBA part 1 and recognised by CIBSE as a route to Chartered Engineer status) or whether I should just do a BA/BSc/BArch(hons) in Architecture (exemption from RIBA part one).

Basically, I think my question is, is it worth taking the MEng? What can I do with that degree that I can't do with the BA/BSc/BArch? And would it mean that I am then an engineer (or do you have to be chartered)?

    Thank you

Can't believe I only just found this now. I'm having the exact same problem. I applied to the k100 because I didn't want to do an extra year at first and I was too chicken. The MEng sounded so much harder.
Have you already applied? And what was your final decision?

I had the same question before I got into uni but I decided to stick with the K100 because I didn't want to do an extra year and I felt a more traditional degree would serve me better. I think if you are sure you want to be an architect then the MEng isn't necessary but it would be useful. From what I have seen at the moment the MEng students have an extra maths lecture - generally about Further AS standard stuff, not entirely sure what they have after this term. I am at Nottingham btw.

am at nottingham too. it's more than maths modules, infact, after 1st year its mostly physics. Even if you have an extra year it is harder, much harder. Especially because studio is such a big part of it, you will have issues with hand-ins and exams clashing alot. If you have more of a science, rather than art, flaire in architecture then i think you should give MEng a thought, if not... run away as fast as you can
