# Bearings question watch

1. Town B is 6km on a bearing of 020* from Town A. Town C is located on a bearing 055* from Town A and on a bearing of 120* from Town B. Work out the distance of Town C from:
a) Town A
b) Town B

* = degrees

(Q4 Excercise 2A C2 Book Edexcel)

I'm really pulling my hair out here, can anyone help me with the diagram?

Thnaks
2. Bearings are measured clockwise from the North line.
"Town B is 6km on a bearing of 020* from Town A"...so label a point A on the page, draw a north line, measure 20 degs clockwise from this line, draw a line from A along this angle and label it 6km.

Can you manage the rest?
3. I've tried this. I drew the point A and then drew a quadrant and drew 20* and drew a triangle. I just didn't get the right answer so my triangle must be wrong.

is there any way you could sketch this on paint and see if im doing the same thing?
4. Ok, here's my diagram!
My first time...

Can you see where the angles 55 degs and 120 degs are?

Thanks for your drawing. I appreciate it.

Are these the angles?

6. "Town C is located on a bearing 055* from Town A"...so in the triangle ABC, angle A must be 35 degs.

The two north lines are parallel, so the 2 exterior angles around B are 160 degs (since 20+160 =180) and 120 degs (the bearing of C).
Hence in the triangle ABC, angle B must be 360 - (160+120).
7. Ah I see! Thanks a lot. Repped your post.
