I'm In year 10 doing the new English specification; no coursework.
Instead of coursework there is now 'controlled assessments'. Theses involve monitored or exam type conditioned exercises.

We have been reading The Merchant of Venice and 3 linked poems, for all next week I'm having a controlled assessment-inwhich I have to "Analyse how love is portrayed in the texts you have studied' being that I have to write an Essay making links from the poems to The merchant of Venice; this is where I become stuck.

I'm not sure how I should structure it as in-

Introduction [I'm writing about blah blah]

Merchant of venice is about [blah blah blah]

    Poem 1 [blah blah]

    Poem 2 [blah blah]

Poem 3 [blah blah] - making links etc

    or

    [Introduction]

[Merchant of venice is about blah - this links to [poem 1 because) and the bit were blah links to [poem 2] reminds me of how blah blah blah links to poem 3]

    Please help!

Well first off I'd just briefly summarise what each poem is about in the introduction and then identify the key themes in each poem. Then I'd so a paragraph on how the poems (if they do) portray love similarly, and another on how they portray love differently. I mean you're not just comparing one poem at a time to the Merchant of Venice are you, you're comparing each poem to to another, so there might be lots of similarities and differences...
