    Hi everyone,
Im new to the forum and hoping someone out there will be able to help me resolve my issue, im currently 24 and going to uni in sep however as a result of stupid decisions in the past my credit is not good at all. Ive allready tried to get a student account at Halifax with no luck so very concerned i will not be able to get one from anywhere, anyway my question is would a parent be able to be a guaranture on a student account to compensate for my bad credit? also has anyone out there done this with success? any comments would be a helpfull

Also will my bad credit have a impact on student finance as in tutition and maintenance grants etc? thanks for your time

Halifax rejected me even though my credit ratings and savings have always been good.

Basically, you're better off trying with whoever you have a current account with. They're more likely to trust you than a bank you haven't been with before, hence why Halifax rejected me. I applied for one with Barclays with no issue whatsoever and got it sorted in no time.

You may be best to stick with who you are with and when they can see you can mange your finances and are a changed character in a few months (or even year two) they may let you have a student account.

Your parents cannot be guarantor for a student account.

There is no credit score for student finance.
