But surely the reciprocal could be said, no?

"The problem is my family and a few others i know think i'm a straight because i have never had any type o relationship other than as a friend with a guy..."

I'm not gay; i'm attracted to women, but i've never had a girlfriend. Not because i don't want a girlfriend, but for some reason it just has not happened. The problem is my family and a few others i know think i'm a closet gay because i have never had any type o relationship other than as a friend with a girl...

Obviously the best way to solve this problem would be to meet a girl, but presuming that will not happen any time soon, what can i do??
Take this as an opportunity to confuse the hell out of them. Frame two posters of Gadaffi and some celebrity A-lister chic, and put them next to each other. I s*** you not, your parents will be guessing for ages what's going on.

Don't let it get to you. All in good time, I'm sure you'll meet a great girl and everything will work out fine and your parents will see that you're not gay. If it really bothers you, you could just talk to them and imply (or just say straight out) that you're not gay, or for example if you were watching a film with a good looking actress, comment on her or something... Just little hints here and there, haha. My brother's never had a girlfriend but I know he's not gay, I'm sure he'll meet someone eventually. It's all good, don't worry about a thing
    This.

    I have a similar problem.

My family think I'm straight because I've had a girlfriend... I guess it's not a similar problem at all really. It's more like the complete opposite of your problem.

It doesn't help that my Mam went to see a psychic and was told that she'd have four grandchildren.

    My sisters gonna be busy.

Put up a load of posters of naked women in your room.
I tried that tactic personally, but my parents thought I was a lesbian?

When I was 16/7 my mum did the "It's okay if you're gay" talk. After that I made sure my sexuality was as ambiguous was possible, pretty sure it kept her questioning for a few years. I don't see why people feel the need to prove themselves, what does it matter? Break down the heteronormative social constructs!

My parents think I'm heterosexual because I date girls. There aren't any problems.

Roll with it, it's fun to mess with heads.
I've done this with friends before, I think some of them are still actually unsure on my sexuality.

OP, don't let it get to you. You know that you're not and why should what anyone elses says or thinks matter?

I still do :P, with family and friends. Good stuff! ( I suppose it doesn't help that I am into a few things considered the realm of the gay >.<)

I do sort of do at uni now as well

Same here, although I do have to say, just because I like musicals does not make me gay. Silly people who say it does.

Tell them you're taking after your father.

It'll shut them up whether it's true or not.

If you are really bothered about your parents knowing you are not gay, just comment randomly you think somebody on TV is hot... or put up a poster such as this: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur...1t:429,r:0,s:0 up in your room it's not too "i'm straight, in your face" but it'll prolly drop the hint .

I'm not sure you can do much about your friends, as even if you try she "she's hot" thing, if they really think you're gay they'll probably believe you just don't know it yet . Just don't let it get to you , or maybe you could tell them you fancy somebody? But that could be more trouble than it's worth, esp if you don't ^.^

Yeah this is sort of what's happening to me. My mum is sure I'm a lesbian because I've never had a proper boyfriend. I would like one but, like you, it just hasn't happened yet
And your only 17??????? No offence, but I suspect your mum was a bit of a slut at your age and can't understand that you don't have a boyfriend.

I'm sure there's plenty of people in my family who reckon I'm gay because I'm always single. I don't really care about it.
