I'm thinking of going to university in the US but have found that i need to do SATs, which, at the moment, i don't have sufficient time or money for. Therefore, i was thinking of doing my SATs next year, and applying to the US in what is effecively year 14 (my gap year) But i also want to apply to british universities, partly for fear of not getting into the ones i want to in the US - so if i apply for deffered entry for the UK in year 13, and get offered a place that i accept, can i then decline it if i get offered a place at a US university the following april? Sorry it's so complicated - any help would be great!!

Yes you can decline any offer at any time.

Yes, but you would lose any accommodation deposits you'd already paid out. In April this shouldn't be a problem unless you were overly proactive as an unconditional offer holder in applying and accepting accommodation during your gap year
