I have one and I'm exposed to daily abuse by my lecturers
On a serious note, no... plus it isn't exactly noticeable especially if you have long hair like myself.

I've got 3 tats, one on each bicep one on leg and 6 piercings on my ear, got accepted into LSE, UCL, KCL, Manchester, SOAS, Bristol, York for postgrad.
Your appearance does not matter except if you are going into management or something like that where an "conservative"" professional" appearance is preferred.
Some of my undergrad profs have tats and coloured hair and multiple piercings and they are at the top of their field and celebrated researchers.
At the end of the day your looks do not dictate your performance.

you could walk into uni with a massive hole in the side of your head and not one teacher/tutor/lecturer would kick you out, or even give you a stern talking to about it.
you're paying to go there so do whatever you want
don't get a hole in the side of your head though, cause that's a little weird.
EDIT: unless its for medicine probably...
