Most banks have alt+ shortcuts for all/ most of the common cell formats. Only macros I had to write for myself were decimal places and merge cells. And the reason I had to write them was because I'd used them so much at the bank I interned at before that they were ingrained in my brain and I kept on trying to use them out of habit.(Original post by ibd_haunter)
Macros make your job easier.....as an Analyst you end up doing the same **** over and over and over again......... so, if you have a macro in place the task can be done with the click of a button or a shortcut key..... The Macro can be as simple as fixing the decimal place..... Trust me, even tiny things like that help........
Macros are apparently useful in trading though as pointed out, but personally don't have any experience of this and most S&T interns I know are worse at VBA than I am and were just given the macro tasks as busywork
