    Why wasn't it?
Hasn't he performed in this tour?

He's one of the best, like him or not.

    Nice wicket from Asif, again.

And Ayaz, Sri Lanka have a better keeper than Gilchrist. I think so anyway, it's about 50/50 which is better really. It seems quite a few teams are missing a keeper who can bat low down the order. I think Dhoni is better than you make out though!

Sami should NEVER be used over Gul, no friggin' way!

Don't get me wrong, I like him as a player. But the whole idea that a player can be put into a team due to pressure from public and certain individuals is just all wrong. A little while back they axed him from the team in order to promote youth (by trying some different batsmen i.e. Gautam Gambhir, suresh raina etc) And by being pressurised back into playing ganguly is a definite step back. He did Ok this tour, but not too well.

Very True. He's such a classy player.

Sangakkarra is a far better batsman and keeper than Gilchrist. Gilchrist has turned into quite a hit and miss batsman, while his keeping is slipping away. I'd play Kumar as a specialist bat though because he is just so valuable as a batsman and such a fine player, I wouldn't want to overload him.

Dhoni will come good at some stage. He just needs to show some more maturity.

I'd rate the 8 test batsman/keepers as follows...
    Sangakkarra
    *daylight*
    Gilchrist
    Boucher
    Dhoni
    Akmal
    McCullum
    Ramdin
    Read/Jones

McCullums WAY down the list... I'd put him next to Boucher. Hes a very good player... always with handy knocks.

Yeh Ben, I forgot about Snagakarra :p:
He's not a wicket keeper, did you know? He came in as a pure batsman and learned wicket keeping from Kallu. In the end, he took Kallus place

    Ironic.

Dhoni is a good player, but so is Akmal. I'm just camparing their recent forms.
Considering all the keepers Pakistan have had in the past, like Moin Khan, Akmal DOES add some sort of the balance to the team.

I still wish Rashid Latif were playing...

Given adequate coaching I reckon guys like Collingwood and Strauss could have been good keepers.

Pakistan have struggled with keepers. I didn't really rate Latif or Moin Khan tbh. Akmal could do with a spell in county cricket...might tighten up his technique. Younis Khan came over here, generally flopped, but seemed to play much better for Pakistan after.

Isn't Taibu a wicky? I like him as a batsman...would probably put him above Jones/Read.

Stewart did "occasional" keeping when he started out. He was primarily a batsmen, and even bowled a few overs for England in his career

Pathetic England! Have they realized that nobody back home is watching them anymore? They should just boycott the series and come back home.

Hmmm...the drugs seem to have worked for Asif 2day-got 4 already (only joking lol)

Good day for SA. They will be tough to beat. Excellent knock by Prince and Amla!

Asif has been cleared.. and the rest of the question are being answered.

Interesting article I was reading yesterday, by Imran Khan. He said that when Inzamam first became interested in playing for Pakistan, he wrote to the PCB to try his abilities out in Lahore.
When Imran Khan first saw him, he was a stick like hippie, with hair to his shoulders! And we was generally a BOWLER! Imran Khan says, he didn't bowl very well, but we asked him to bat, to see if he could be used as an all-rounder....
Imran Khan said, he had the most amazing timing he had ever seen and on rated him second to Viv Richards on the spot!
Hence, he advised him to concntrate on his batting... Look at Inzie NOW!

Pakistan v SA is coming to an interesting conclusion. Depends on if Pak can actually set a decent target for the end of 4th day/last day. Nice to see Asif back in the team and earning a five wicket haul. Wish we had Shoaib and Mohammad Yousuf though. Although I think Shoaib Akhtar should focus on ODIs if he wants to contribute to our WC campaign and keeping in mind his injury ridden career he should try and play as little as possible before the WC

Pathetic England! Have they realized that nobody back home is watching them anymore? They should just boycott the series and come back home.

LOL! England still have a good chance in the ODI's even though morals must be quite low. I don't exactly rate NZ too high...I'm sure you guys can beat them. Not exactly the Ashes most people had in mind but damn the Aussies are just ruthless! Anyways good luck to you guys...

The Pakistani tail sure is wagging! This lead is looking defendable now...will be a struggle, but nonetheless either side can win.

Not too many sights more entertaining than tailenders in 'slog mode'.

If Nazir and Rana were in form then you may have had a good chance but they had an awful first innings.

I'd get Kaneria on as soon as possible and get some men around the bat. I don't rate him but on a 4th/5th day pitch he may get a few wickets. He doesn't have a bad record against SA either.
