Rihanna for example. When it comes to guys I know many more Rihanna fans than Lady Gaga fans
but she's both, I like her music and she's like one of the hottest women on this planet :O

I really don't see the appeal, but each to their own.

Teenage girls in general seem to be rather shallow and superficial.

Are you implying a link between 'image' and 'popular music'?!

I don't listen to bands because the members are hot, the vast majority of the bands I like were found from trawling spotify, there are some which I have no idea what they look like. I don't really listen to music in the charts so all the pretty boys on it don't appeal to me at all, either for their looks or music.

for example, girls would listen to bands because they think that the band is hot. that's the first thing they would say about the band, like "they're soooo good looking" while guys just listen to music for the music

the only time that I might have broken this was Selena Gomez but I only listened to a couple of her songs then went back to just watching her shows >.>

    silly girls!
You've looked at this backwards - girls find artists whose music they like hot.

Considering my favourite music is 40's swing and soul, I can safely say that this doesn't apply to me :P

Of course don't care about how a singer looks this is why there are so many female "singers" who use autotune, get someone else to write their songs, never sing live on stage and who's only real talent is dancing around looking pretty.

Girls don't know anything about music, that's why.

The same is true for guys actually. A lot of my male friends listen to Paramore, despite liking literally nothing else of that genre.

    "Why do you like it?"
"Hayley Williams is hot, HOOOT DAMN"

Though you are right that is true for girls in a lot of instances. It annoys me in gigs when you're just surrounded by squealing girls. (Bands like A7X can attribute most of their more... active... fan base to this.)

Then again, I do listen to bands from the pretty boys like A7X along with some damn weird looking people like Turisas.

I guess you can tell who's who, a person who can talk critically about the band (eg, I don't like A7X's new stuff much at all), or those girls who are like "Oh my daiz it's all wonderful, amazing, so much meaning, just like my Back street Boys CDs.", no matter what rubbish a band comes up with.

I've never heard any girl say that. It doesn't matter to me how they look. Though a brilliant musician often becomes hot. Because they're brilliant.
