    Hi, I'm a year 12 maths b student. for my assignment i have to write the Gateway Arch equation in terms of exponential functions but im having trouble simplifying it, im so confused.

    Gateway Arch equation:

    y= 211.488 - 20.96 cosh(.03283284x)

    Hyperbolic cosine:

    coshx = (1/2)e^x + (1/2)e^-x

    This is what i have so far:

    y= 211.488-20.96[(1/2)e^x + (1/2)e^-x] is that as far as i go?

    Have you included the .03283284x?

    oh yea, sorry just forgot to type that in. im not sure whether i have to use the power of a power index rule and make it:

    y= 211.488- 20.96[(1/2)(e^.03283284)^x + (1/2)(e^.03283284)^-x ] and work out what e^.03283284 is?
