    Hi all,

I started out as a Journalist and have an experiece on 6 months in Journalism (Magazine). I have not studied journalism as a subject and hence want to enroll myself in a Masters course.

I have got admission in Erasmus Mundus Masters for Journalism. It is a two year course. 1st year is in aarhus uni, denmark and the second year is in hamburg uni., germany.

I am also awaiting the result of my application for MA International Journalism in City University London.

If I get admission in City University, then which course would be better ?

If anyone can assist me with this, it would be great.

    Thanks

    Varun.

    Hi there,

I only just saw this thread - so sorry you went without a reply for so long! I think the Erasmus Mundus programme at City looks absolutely amazing, and have been looking into it for a while... Well done for getting a place on it, as it seems quite competitive to me!

I think which one you choose really depends on what you want to do with your MA. I personally would love to be an international reporter, travelling all over the world, but I could understand if someone wanted to stay in England and work on networking within London. Since you've also applied for International Journalism, I assume you have the same aspirations as I do, and I'd really recommend going for the Erasmus Mundus course.

To be honest, the Erasmus Mundus course is extremely good value for money compared to most masters and is something a bit different. It shows you took initiative and ventured to other countries to broaden your life experience and discover new things. I for one would kill for a place on the course!

Do let me know which one you choose, if you get an offer for International Journalism, as in a year's time I'd like to imagine I'll have the same choice to make (a girl can dream!)... I think if you got a place on the Erasmus Mundus programme then your application must be pretty strong, so I expect you'll get a place on the other as well. Good luck with your application and please keep me updated!

    Hey,

Thanks a lot for the reply.

Well Erasmus Mundus course has its 1st Year at Aarhus University, Denmark and the 2nd year at Hamburg University, Germany. There is an option of City University London as the second year in Mundus course but the Specialism is Business and Finance.

And yes finally I did manage to secure a place at City University London too.

I am still very much confused.. but after asking zillions of alumnis of both these courses, I think i am inclined towards International Journalism at City University. The reviews that I have received for the mundus course are not very encouraging, mainly because the job opportunities are better after the MA International Journalism corse at City University London. Also Mundus programme is VERY VERY academic.

I would personally love to join he Mundus programme but the lack of scholarships and the future job prospects being not so bright, ask me to join City Uni.

So I am still to decide fully.

    Cheers

    Varun
