The fact is, this is a joke. If you are uncomfortable with people joking about your appearance, change it, it won;t do you any harm. At the very least, you need to learn to laugh at yourself.

The joke was about as subtle as a sledgehammer.

But its different when the person making a joke is in a position of relative power and you can't just insult them back.

Thing is, I am the only overweight/obese guy in my class. Everyone else is skinny and whatnot. I found it all to be so embarrassing and insulting. Do you think she did it personally? I kept thinking about this and couldn't concentrate at all for the rest of the lecture. Damn.
    Don't be such a pussy.

    There, that's your solution.

Lose some weight or alternatively you could learn some moves like this guy.

The guy next to you was mean, but probably just class room banter.

The lecturer should have known better. If I was the lecturer I would have just ignored it, not made a comment back.

This is the Student Room. There are no subtle jokes here. Our brains are too powerful and fast.

I don't think it was on purpose, but the reply to your neighbour's comment is not okay. You need to talk to someone about it. If you don't feel comfortable talking to your lecturer about it, maybe you could mention how it made you feel to your tutor?
