Hi, would really appreciate some help!

Its nearing final decision time and I cant pick out of:

    Lincoln - Illustration
Loughborough - Graphic Communication (but can i change it to illustration??)
Nottingham Trent - Graphic Design (might be boring as ive been in notts forever)
Coventry - Graphic design and illustration (although i haven't even had my interview yet.)

I love illustration with a graphic side, or graphics with an illustrative side. I'm not a fan of animation and want to get away from that as much as possible. Also want a great uni experience of course!!

I would really appreciate any opinions or knowledge on the unis and courses listed! SO MUCH!! i cant choose. Anyone picking between the same unis?

    THANK YOU!

    Hi!
Have you decided yet which uni you're going for?
I'm trying to choose between Nottingham Trent and Loughborough for Graphic Design/Communication. I really like the course at Trent, and the uni as a whole at Loughborough.
    Argh it's so difficult!

    Hey =)
I'm applying for graphics as well and I also wanted to have the opportunity to do illustration within the course! I've firmed Nottingham Trent myself because the course looks amazing and really broad but you can still specialise in areas so you possibly wouldn't need to do as much animation or motion graphics. The tutors seemed really good too and it has a quite a good reputation xD Lincoln's student work looked really good but haven't heard much about the course. Loughborough's got a really good reputation and the uni seemed really nice.
    Did you decide yet?

    Thank you for the replies!
I think i'm going to go for loughborough and I was able to change the course to illustration The illustration and graphics courses are really closely linked, and i think its really nice to be on a campus. With catering! ;D
Nottingham trent does seem soooo good and they're the only ones ive got an unconditional from.. but they talked so much about motion graphics at the interview that i was a bit put off, and another girl there was told her style was 'too illustrative', so i dont want to be taken away from illustration! I decided lincoln dont seem very linked to the proffesional world of illustration and it seems very narrative. And they wanted me to be into reading!! The cheek of it..
Coventry interview coming up soon but everyone tells me it's disgusting there and i shouldnt bother with the interview, haha oh dear.

So Loughborough firm choice, Trent as insurence i'm thinking! Have you decided yet Ivh?

Yeah I think at the moment I'm gonna go for Trent
Have spent weeks deciding between Trent and Loughborough, but looking at past student work there seems to be more of animation (which I wanted to avoid as well!) focus on the Loughborough Graphics course, so even though I love Loughborough as a uni, I think I prefer the Trent course - still not 100% decided though!
I think I met you on the interview day, not sure if you remember me but I was the girl with the nude and black bag (from primark)?

    Hey,

I got a similar problem, but I narrowed it down to Coventry and Nottingham. It's really hard!!

Coventry has a lot of equipment like type press (thingy slipped my mind), laser cutter,4 mac rooms plus a year of work experience, travel programs, and scholarships, language program and free gym membership! (its kinda chavy though??? or is it me???)

Nottingham has a great reputation among businesses, I would have to buy my own metal types for printer thing...., the departments are open and free to use, the city is sooo great, plus you can freely specialise and learn new things, tutors are really nice (laughed through most of my interview) plus they enter a lot of Competitions!! (its super expensive and far from home though-_-')I need a 2nd (or more) opinion on the matter!?!?!?!

Hey =) i'm at Nottingham Trent doing first year Graphic Design now! They do have some metal type for the letterpress but they are literally tiny so yeah you could either get your own or the tutors have some trays of wooden type in the office that you can borrow =) the city is really really nice but not at all expensive! Its quite cheap to go out and tons of cheap places to eat. Also housing is pretty cheap compared to a lot of cities. The tutors and the course are great though =) personally the only negative side is that some facilities you cant use till second year and you can only do workshops in print, darkroom and wood etc... if they offer them through the course. They are working on improving that though =)
