    What comparison would you draw with an english uni for reading law at ucd?

    Sorry, no idea about that one. Anyone I know in UCD does arts or science.

    Only thing I really know is that UCD is more along the lines of a US university in the way that they structure courses. They've got this thing called UCD horizons. Basically it means that every year you have to do 60 credits. You do a certain amount of core credits from your main subject, then you do optional subjects in your main subject (random law subjects), then you have 10 credits left from across the university. From what I understand it amounts to one course per semester that you can take outside your degree

    Also, they don't do first, 2.I, 2.II like a normal university. Their grading system is based on that US GPA thing. If you want more info you should ask on Boards.ie (go up to education then UCD) but don't expect much.
