I'm not saying either one is right or wrong, but I don't get why having sex for money on camera is better than having sex for money in general :dontknow: Am I missing something? lol

its probably something to do with how it can be controlled and monitored.prostitution tends to have a darker side.and its obviously dangerous to just get in a car with a stranger etc

Because the ex Home Secretary's husband liked to bash one out to porn.

Being serious, because we have stupid old fashioned laws about prostitution. We need to reform them already and adopt a model the likes of Nevada and the Netherlands have, where it's state monitored and taxed.

You could also make the argument about why it's legal to have sex at 16 but illegal to buy porn until you're 18. Does that mean you have to cover your eyes incase you see any pornography during having sex with your girlfriend from the ages of 16-18?

The real question is how come you can have sex at 16 but you can't watch it (porn) until 18. Are you supposed to do it with your eyes closed for two years?

Just to clarify, the act of soliciting a prostitute for money is legal, although it's very difficult to actually engage the services of a prostitute without breaking the law, as you can't do it in an organised way - i.e. through a brothel, agency or a pimp, the prostitute cannot advertise their services and you cannot solicit a prostitute in a public place. So unless you're good friends with a prostitute and just happen to decide... "why not" one night, in the privacy of your own home, then it's pretty hard to stay on the right side of the law.

Probably because they don't want to encourage prostitution and that to kids :dontknow:

Kerbcrawling is where a punter goes driving around looking for prostitutes to pick up off the kerbside. As it's soliciting in a public place, it's illegal.

That's a good point. It's possibly because there's a difference between who is paying and who is being paid.

In pornography, two people are being paid to have sex and to make a 'film' about it, so I guess both sexual partners are considered as equals because they are both paid. Alternatively, prostitution is seen as the exploitation of the person being paid because only one person is receiving the money if that makes sense; it's also linked more directly to the exploitation of women - the idea that you can pay your way into a woman's body (or a man's if it's male prostitution).

I'm not entirely sure - just my two cents, that's a very good point OP. +rep!
