i know whats the fundamental frequency
but what is overtones and harmonics
and how many overtones can be made(infinite or something)

there are different systems in music and in physics.

    In Physics ...

the first harmonic is the fundamental frequency

the second harmonic is 2 x the fundamental

the third harmonic is 3 x the fundamental etc...

However, sometimes certain harmonics are not possible. E.g. for a tube closed at one end the second harmonic is not possible nor is any other even harmonic.

A higher harmonic which is possible is called an overtone. therefore for a tube closed at one end the fist overtone = the third harmonic
