After chatting a fair bit with my pal Laurence Shahlaei and discussing events and and training for this my new training plan (comp specific) is as follows.

Events are: (and my thoughts of how I will do in said event)

Max Log starting weight 120kg - Not my fav, this is going to be a damage limitation event for me

Oly Bar Squat 280kg belt & wraps - Straightforward, should nail a couple of reps. Loz thinks 1 rep will place high, 2-3 in the top 3 and 4+ will win it (Loz is competing and he will nail 5 without breaking a sweat)

Viking Press 140kg for reps: Decent event for me, good push presser - will aim to be top 4 in this

Axle 18inch Deadlift 370kgs: Very Good event for me - hope to place top 2-3

Mega Medley - I am fast at the medleys and will be aining for a solid score here!

Overall I want to place top 4 to qualift for UKs strongest and book my spot on TV.

Training will be basic and simple directed towards the events I am doing

    Monday:

    Strict Press
    Close Grip Bench
    Light flye
    Overhead triceps
    Weighted Chins
    Biceps & Abs superset

    Wednesday

    Log C & P
    Front Squats
    Heavy Partial Deads
    Saftey Bar Squats
    Calves

    Friday

    Push Press
    Weighted Dips
    Heavy DB Row
    Power Skull Crushers
    Biceps & Abs

    Sunday

    Heavy Squats
    Speed Deadlifts
    Yoke/Carry Medley
    Good Mornings
    Skipping

Will probably swim on Tue & Thur (HIIT style for about 10 lengths).

Diet wise I have increased my kcals to support the very heavy training and I have reduced my training frequency and increased my general rest and time sleeping.

Current weight is 127kgs on the Dot, or 20st for those who use old money.

Obviously I am now juicing too- time toget busy

Nice one. In to see if you update the log this time. Was watching Laurence on TV last week at some strongest man contest. He's very impressive.

Random Q though, do all the WSM guys juice? Is that just an accepted fact amongst them or is it just some of them?

Event is second weekend in May.

Have a gay head cold so almost didn't train - instead I opted for singles

    Log C& P 130kg
    Front Squat 185kg
    18inch Deadlift 350kg

All nice and easy, just a loosener to keep me on my toes

Is Curletto doing this? What about Nathan? Sounds like it will be a tough field with Loz there too.

I was thinking the same as troll/nun/whoever :p: If a guy who competes in world championships is in, then it's gonna be hard! Good luck though, really hope you get through!

    What's the medley?

Not sure if Alex is doing this. Not seen Nathan since before x-mas to be honest. Loz is only doing it to qualify as Glenn wouldn’t give him auto entry to the final – he won’t be going all out and I am under no illusions of what would happen if he did.

I also forgot the side handle grip event 380kg for time

    The medley is 380kg Yoke 15m, 320kg Frame Carry 15m, 450kg Tyre 2 flips

Yeah I have an iron grip, never lets me down. Have done double overhard 18ich deadlifts with a hold at the top with 340kgs on a standard olympic bar.

Grip is in my opinion one of the most fundamental aspects of being strong.
