I do nothing for them, well very occasionally.

I tried these about two weeks ago, far to easy in my opinion.

Dave Meer is putting the competition on, its so heavy as Glenn Ross always has the UKs really heavy - it is called strongman after all.

Some loosening stuff last night and a bit of technical work.

    Block pull then clean.

Basically a power pull, replace the bar then a clean pull with light weights focusing on triple extension. 3 off high blocks, 3 off medium, 3 off the floor.

    Squat push.

An interesting exercise, never done before and is working a component of the jerk/push press.
Bar is un-racked, half front squatted down quite slowly then a rapid acceleration to full hip extension to launch the bar off the shoulders past the head – no actual shoulder ‘pressing’ allowed. I liked this a lot!!!! I can see massive carryover to the push press/jerk. Did about 12 reps in sets of 3 up to 80 kg

    Behind the neck high jerk.

Focus here is on maximal drive off the shoulders, only allowed to split slightly you basically have to jump the bar to lockout. Again very interesting lift!

Just realised I won't be able to do it as I can't hold the bar conventionally when front squatting due to lack of flexibility (I cross my arms)...BOOO

Sort that out! I couldn't do it, did three weeks of stretching now I am sorted and it puts me in a better pressing position too.

Load up 60kg on the bar , get your fingers under it and un-rack it - feel the stretch!! It will kill at first.

3 lots of 30 seconds 3 times a week then every day I was pulling my fingers back towards my shoulder for the same.

Eventually I learnt to hoist my shoulders and chest high when holding the bar - and I am a guy who took 30mins warm up to even get under a squat bar before!!!!

Flexibility is achievable, more so for a lass!!!

Still got manflu so not feeling amazing.

Twanged my leg on the push press last week, as I could mildly feel it tonight I decided against push press and did some more strict stuff instead to rest my knee up.

    Strict press
    120 x 1 x 3 sets
    100 x 7

    Dips
    60kg x 8

One set of very light laterals to loosen up

    Cable Pulley Row
3 sets of 8 with something like 150kgs

Wide grip bench (for a stretch on my chest) and facepulls superset - nothing to shout about.
