Well I got 4A*, 2 A, 1 B, 2 C (science - grrrr)

I was told that my application wouldn't even be considered by a horrible person from the grammar school when I mentioned it. Proved her wrong. I am doing English now and I got top 5 for my English lit GCSE so I suppose that makes up for the science. Who needs science for English anyway?

I got 10 A*s and 3 As. There is a fairly wide range though, and mine are by no means the best.

Just ut of interest....what are the average grades at GCSE for Oxbridge students?

i really want to know.

i think the ebst way to do it is to do it a "points per grade thing".

e.g.) "In points, what is the average gcse grade of an oxbridge applicant."

A* = 8
A = 7
B = 6
C = 5

e.g.) "7.1 is the average gcse grade for a n oxbridge student.

thats the best way to do it.

because then u could work out your average gcse grade in points, then compare it to this average. :wink:

really? I'd have thought that was exceptional. We couldn't timetable more than 10 GCSE's. Presumably you did some early/outta school?

I went to private school, so they juggled things tactically, I guess. I did Latin out of normal timetable (hated it, but it's kinda useful now!), and everyone in top set Maths did Stats as an extra, and top set science took triple science, rather than double, with the triple part taking up an option block as I understand it does in many schools (state and private). Easy enough really.
