Happend to me last year I got 122 and 72 UMS respectively and then got 28 UMS in the practicals. As with all things at A level it comes down to UMS. A C in the practical is about 40 UMS so since you need 48 UMS for an A in the practicals you will have to make up 8 extra UMS in the papers.

    Hope this helps.

EDIT: It is possible to resit them next year because you can do 3 practical task sets and you are allowed to know the title of the practical beforehand to let you revise around the subject.

Im guessing that your an AS? well you need 240/300 to get an A at AS so it just depends how good an A you have in January. I was in the same situation as you last year got A's in Jan and June but get an E in the practical, so i got a B. If you are carrying on with Biology, you can resit next year.

But to answer your question yes it will bring you down, you just need to get a good A in June

Must be a wide spread problem. I also do physics/chemistry and find their practicals far easier/more consistent.
