Crime and Punishment 1830-1965: book recommendations please :) watch

    • Thread Starter

I'm writing my A2 coursework on changing approaches to punishment 1830-1965, specifically the end of Transportation, the Separate System for prisons, the special treatment of juveniles c.1908 Children's Act, and the abolition of capital punishment.

I don't expect tsr to write my essay for me, but could anyone recommend books on crime and punishment/social history in this period? Would be much appreciated

Also, I'm having trouble tracking down the report of the Select Committee on Transportation 1837 and the original text of the Children's Act 1908 which has been repealed and isn't on the legislation.gov website

    Thanks in advance
