Don't ask about them when they're sick then. I do get what you mean though, it's not nice to ignore the fact that they haven't seen you. I hope you're not one of those annoying people that others don't want to be around because it might be the case.

Are you off a lot? If not, then I'd be seriously annoyed if my friends didn't contact me to check if I was okay. That being said, if I was ill enough not to go into uni, then I'd assume that I would be too ill to care whether people were thinking about me or not, lol.

Maybe they're giving you privacy and will ask you when you get back. Sometimes people are off college for sensitive reasons (family emergency, death of a loved one, serious health problems).

That's social relations for you .
People are only in relationships for a specific purpose, for most school mates its a sense of belonging to the group, socialisation ...

I've been of ill for these last 3 days. I have the majority of my class on facebook, I know most of them have been on, but none of them have said hi or have asked me why I haven't been in.

I'm fairly upset by this, which I think is understandable. Should I be upset, or am I just being too much of a girl?
    why don't YOU say hi?

That is exactly what I've been trying to put into words for years. So incredibly true.

This only applies to institutional friendships. School, work colleagues and even university friends.

While I agree that every man is an island and you can't rely on anyone as much as yourself, I think you do find out who your real friends are eventually, though granted there are usually not many.

The fact you actually made a post about them not saying hi...

Completely explains and justifies why they wouldn't bother.

Are they actually friends that you normally talk to outside of school? Or just classmates that you talk to in class or about homework sometimes? Having people on Facebook doesn't really make someone your friend.

    I'm jealous. I'm 15 minutes late to a lesson and I'm bombarded with 'where r u babe?! x' texts.

OP, they'll probably ask you when you actually get back to class, possibly.

The sad thing is, I'm usually late because I am doing my hair.

Seriously? As much as I love my friends, if I'm ill I don't expect people to freak out and send me message after annoying message when all I want to do is sleep and watch Jeremy Kyle feeling sorry for myself, and knowing that, if someone else is off I'll leave them alone to get some peace and quiet =P
