Can I defer entry after accepting an offer? And then reapply? watch

    Hi guys.

I have two offers from unis for History this year. I just accepted them as firm and insurance, but I'm fairly sure I want to reapply, I didn't really get what I wanted, I feel I could have done better, and I'm quite disillusioned with History now, too.

Can I phone up and defer my offer? And if so, can I keep it as a backup when I reapply? Ideally I would apply for law next year, but keep a history offer as backup. Sounds a bit selfish, but if I got an offer for law, I could withdraw my History offer, freeing up my place on the course.

I have been getting mixed messages so far - one of my teachers suggested that this may be possible, but a thread I found on TSR said you can't keep an offer then reapply, and another said that it was a matter between you and the university, so you could hold onto a deferred place and then reapply.

Can anyone clarify? Very confused

    Cheers, Michael.

You can defer an offer you've already accepted if your uni allows it.
But you can't hold a deferred offer while you apply for 2012 entry.
