personally I don't like revising in any way other than diagrams and revision cards but for my AS geography exam in January I actually revised by recording myself reading the information on my iphone and listening to it other and other again. I got an A in the exam so I guess it worked lol.

My technique is to basically get everything I need to know into 20 pages or so of notes on my computer, highlighting anything super-important, and deleting anything I don't need - which is the part that takes the most time.

After that, I print them off and basically read over them until I know them practically word by word.

It worked last year and in January, hoping it does this year!
