Hi this is really random but could anyone give a rough estimate of what the pay of a partner/senior partner at a firm such as clifford chance may be? thanks

580k-1.3m for equity partners. (Earnings per equity partner--870k.)

Also a slight caveat, becoming partner doesn't mean automatic entitlement to "equity" - you have to earn "equity status" :P

I hope that makes sense? i.e. you're unlikely to start earning 870k on becoming a partner straight away, more like half or 1/3rd of that...(if anything? lol)

You're right, of course. Equity partners start at the bottom end of the range I gave. (And partners=/=equity partners except at Slaughter and May, where the partnership is all-equity.)
