    University used to be free.

More people go to university now than ever before.

(I know that's not the only factor in the issue)
Are you suggesting that people are going to university because they have to pay for it and that if it were free then suddenly masses of people would not go? Interesting...

    Correlation does not imply causation.

If TSR Labour obtains the most seats then I will be pushing for a coalition with the third biggest party (probably Centre Party or Liberals). Given that's most democratic and will provide us with enough seats for an overall majority.

A Coalition with many small parties (such as the Socialist Party) will be far too messy imo.
I think the socialists and the LDs will get a similar share actually.

A Lib-Lab coalition would command more support from the centre than a Lab-Soc coalition, therefore it would probably be a stronger Government.

Hey, we used to be big We were the official opposition once. There was a hung parliament and if one of our members hadn't voted the wrong way then I would have been Prime Minister :p: Temporarily, we would have messed around with things fairly swiftly.

It would be lovely if the Socialists came third and we could form a coalition...however let's not be too premature about this or we might jinx it

I'm sure the Lib Dem's will lose third place but I think that it will be a battle between the Centre Party and Socialists for the third spot. A tough call

Liberals probably won't come third in the election....given this is mainly a student electorate I reckon you guys will slip to fourth or fifth.

Perhaps. It will come down to the results really, we will have to see.

I doubt very much it will be fifth to be honest. The LDs still have plenty of support.

    From who?

The student vote within the Lib Dems has deflated. Granted there is still support for the Liberals but from other social groups.

Their vote will have reduced a lot but it was so high before that it will still gain them a reasonable amount of seats. I don't see the Libertarians, CP and certainly not UKIP overtaking them though.

I underestimate the Centre Party; I reckon that floating voters may go for them as they will seem more 'apolitical' (I use that term loosely) because people will think they will act in the national interest rather than act on ideology.

    We shall see though

They will get seats, they always do.

Interestingly there were no independents this time.

Do you mean Robbie and Jangra? (the last independents I remember).

Robbie got a job and so wasn't active and Jangra left the site at some point but was reasonably active during his term.
