Anyone here like to listen to an entire film soundtrack on, say Spotify while researching or writing an essay when spoken word is too distracting? My favourites so far are Lord of the Rings, Blood Diamond and Thin Red Line; relaxing and epic at the same time haha...
Your thought? Does instrumental music help you concentrate...cos I always need something to listen to, but music with lyrics takes my mind off the subject.

The TRON soundtrack by Daft Punk is quite simply epic. Really relaxing as well.

I'd second the tron soundtrack and add in the soundtracks for Tabarly and Amelie by Yann Tiersen.

    Inception soundtrack is quality.
Indeed it is, but it's not really the best soundtrack to work to IMO.

I love to listen to the Pride & Prejudice soundtrack when I have to write something. It's really calming and reminds me of the film - which I love.

Tron, The Last Samurai, Sherlock Holmes, Transformers (The Classical score, not the crap one sold in stores), Lord of the Rings, Titanic, and the list goes on and on.

I don't listen much though, with the selling of my headphones to help fund for my computer and the vamping of course work, I don't have as much free time as I would like :/

Agree with the shouts for Inception and Tron: Legacy. I wasn't sure if Daft Punk had done enough with Tron to last over the long run, but i believe they have done it now, quality soundtrack and up there with Inception for best OST of last year.

Hans Zimmer barely goes wrong. Get any of the films he has done soundtracks for. Black Hawk Down, POTC etc.

Also Clint Mansell's stuff and minimalist stuff like Philip Cage's stuff is great. Most bases are covered already and will be anyway so won't go on anymore.

I prefer calmer soundtracks when I'm working. Pride and Prejudice, The Holiday, P,S. I Love You, Titanic...
