So, a bit of background first. I've never had any of this stuff happen to me before I started smoking weed. The weed smoking was heavy by pretty much everyones standards (spending up to £150 a week, 18g a week for a year).

However, now I can hear people calling my name and occasionally talking to me, even though when I look around nobody is there.

I walk around this world not being me. It's like I (my character, personality) is almost a spirit, where I control my brain and my body, almost disconnected from them. I've matured so much since being like this, it's like the whole world makes sense, and I have gained a whole set of morals with a clear idea of what is right and wrong.

Other than that, I wake up convinced my dreams are real, and have to really think to see whether they are dreams or real memories. Sometimes i'm never sure.

Anyone have any idea what's happening and when it'll go away?
I don't want to tell any of my family/friends as I know that however much you guys say "oh they won't mind," everyone will be sub-consciously thinking that i'm odd, and whilst they will still probably accept me, it wouldn't be the same

See a doctor. There are strong links between using weed and developing schizophrenia.

as above, see your GP ASAP and he/she can discuss what options to consider. but it is important to get the problem sorted quickly before it progresses further.

Definitely stop smoking the weed, if you haven't already. If you're lucky the voices and stuff will wear off after a while, if they were induced by the drugs. If you're unlucky you might be stuck with them. And go see a doctor, they'll be able to either diagnose you or refer you to a specialist.

If you haven't already ditch the cannabis pronto and don't touch it again, you may be one of the people that is predisposed to developing psychosis like symptoms from cannabis use thus it's probably for the best to take steps to prevent further damage from being caused.

I don't want to scare you but that's how my psychosis started (although mine wasn't caused by drug use), hearing people whispering my name, calling me to the window, but when I looked out no one was there. You walk around and suddenly it feels like the world has changed and you've awoken with this great sense of purpose, everything is different and you're not always sure why. You don't understand why but your behaviour and mood changes. That is what they call the prodromal stage. The period before the psychosis really kicks in.

If you're lucky the symptoms may go away after completely stopping cannabis use, take it as a warning not to touch it again. If you're unlucky and things don't clear up then you might end up in the same boat as me. In the mean time you should go and speak to your GP, they will be able to refer you to an early intervention psychosis team. These are mental health teams that deal exclusively with people that experience psychosis like symptoms such as hearing voices.

My advice would be to see a doctor, studies have shown that smoking weed can cause mental health problems, and so going to see the doctor is pretty much the best thing. Stop taking any more weed as it will make things worse for yourself and don't touch it! (Like the other members have said.)

In your last paragraph where you said "As I know however much you guys say oh they won't mind, everyone will be sub-consciously thinking that i'm odd" - Many individuals develop a stigma against mental health but the most important thing is that your family and your true friends will stick by you and support you don't worry about what other individuals will think the most important thing is that you get yourself sorted be strong and you can do it, but please go and speak to a health practitioner about it!
