I've noticed that on the whole, young political views are often based on parent's views. I'm pretty left wing, as is my Dad. The same goes for most of my friends and their mums/dads.

It's interesting, because while I believe to my core that what I believe is right, if I had been born into a Conservative family... I'd probably be a Tory.

So yeah, how much does your politics correlate with your parents?

I'd always thought I believed the same as my parents, then I took Government and Politics AS and learned it all myself and found that I believe different.

My dad is Tory, my mums understanding of politics is "get Polish people of of this country, they get everything for free" and I am also Tory.

I guess it does partially influence me but my dad never mentions politics, ever.

My family has always been quite left wing on both sides and voting tory is likely to get you left in a ditch somewhere. My grandfather was heavily involved with a union and all that.

I'm a bit of a Welsh nationalist though, which is mostly my own choice. In fact my dad has become more nationalistic because of me

My mother votes for Sinn Fein... I'm a member of the Conservative Party

eit: My father refuses to tell me who he votes for. Probably the SDLP

My Mum's a middle-ground Tory, I honestly don't know what my Dad is - he seems to be a centrist. I don't think my political viewpoints are influenced by them; I'm socially left-wing and economically confused.

My parents don't really understand politics and our opinions in general are completely different. They're pretty traditional....whereas I'm cool and liberal

My mother voted labour last election, but my father didn't vote! He was "on call" and was "needed at the hospital" :O I was disgusted! And now he's complaining about what the Tories are doing to the nhs!
I wish I was old enough to vote...

Very strongly affected by my parents, I was born to two 20 year olds in a tiny flat above a chip shop in a working class estate in the 80's. I was destined to vote Labour!

My parents aren't very politically-informed, but are very reactionary and traditional so they just vote the Conservatives. Regardless of policies/leaders/events etc.
I'm a socialist. But I don't support a party - if made to I'd support either Greens or Labour. Very different

My dad is tory through and through. I'm sort of economically conservative and socially very very liberal. So half and half really. For example, i believe in drug legalisation.

Very different! My whole family are liberal. They were shocked/mortified when I took the Political Compass test & my results showed that I was right-wing

    My dad, 10000000% doesn't care.

My mum isn't too fussed, both of them are baffled about why I chose a Politics degree.

They haven't influenced me at all, I asked my mum if she was voting for/against AV, she said she's do whatever I told her too. haha.

They are both Conservative voters, although my dad voted for BNP a while ago I think. Or was considering it I cna't remember.

I vote conservative, although I did do quite a bit of research on political parties before the last election to decide which one I wanted to vote for.
