I'm just finishing my GTP at a fairly challenging inner-city school, which I've rather had enough of, and so have recently accepted a place teaching science at a public boarding school next year. Does anyone have any experience teaching in these kinds of schools? I think I will cope with the general culture change fine, but I'm just a bit worried about things like the workload, given I will be running sports after school most days and working saturdays, is it hard to fit in all the marking/planning (which I imagine will still take me a long time given I will only be an NQT)? Is there usually still time for a good social life outside of school? And are there any aspects of boarding school life that I should be particularly aware of before I start?
